Nadège Mouyssinat
Nadège Mouyssinat was born in 1984 in Toulouse.
She studied art and art history first at the University of Bordeaux and then at Limoges. For 10 years, she evolved in the very demanding world of luxury products, as a designer for porcelain factories in Limoges. The technical mastery and sublimation of the matter are omnipresent. She uses porcelain, initially intended for mass production, and a know-how deeply rooted from the Limoges region that is steeped in history. She builds a sensual, organic, and intriguing world, between installation and sculpture. The aesthetics of the forms produced by Nadège Mouyssinat are the result of research nourished by literature, history, legends.
“In my practice as an artist, I voluntarily put forward an almost virtuoso execution, which is aimed at perfection, mastery and sometimes complexity. This is not simply an exercise of style since this cold and frozen sensuality of the piece «well made» has a deliberate and assumed place in my artistic approach. I like to echo it with doubt, the “unidentifiable”, the mysterious, akin to predatory or poisonous flowers that have only their beauty to attract their prey. The “beautiful”, the vibration it emits, the attraction and the distance it causes, is a central question in my work.”
